Description:

The Vigo County Jail is operated under the leadership of Lt. Charley Funk. Lt. Funk is assisted by Administrative Staff, First Sergeants, Sergeants, 3 Corporals and nearly 40 staff members. The Jail has a capacity of 268 prisoners but often runs over that number. The Jail generally houses inmates that are awaiting sentencing. While housed in the Jail, the Vigo County Sheriff's Office is responsible for inmate medical care, having trained medical personnel on site. The Jail is also responsible for the dietary needs of the inmates, along with providing meals for Juvenile Detainees, the Community Corrections Program and 2 additional County Jail Facilities. The Vigo County Sheriff's Office Jail Division is responsible for the safety of inmates, their transport to and from Courts, other services, to and from other institutions, inmate mail and commissary services
